Khans and mosques 

    The Khans and Mosques played an important role  in Diyala province especially in Baquba city in sheltering travelers and residents, where there were no hotels at that time in the old city of Baquba, because of the large number of travelers coming from Iran for the purpose of the visit to holy sites , so Baquba was as a house for rest .  The number of  the khans in Baquba was eleven Khan,  such as : -
  - Khan Shabandar: was founded by Mahmoud  Al-Shabandar in 1896 .
- Sunnia Khan and  Khan  Bakr Afendi Alyawir and others.

   The most important Khans outside Baquba by the size , architect and the value historical was ( Khan Bani Saad ) locate in the middle way between Baquba and Baghdad city ( founded in the year 1688  by the Wally of Baghdad Omar Basha . The second khan is khan Al – Luwalwa a name of  Al – Luwalwa tribe  Bani Luaai  away about 4 km. to the west of Baquba city and at this time  nothing stay  from it where it is today completely demolished , it was founded in the year 1790 . In the books of History ,  Diyala province Is one of the provinces of Iraq that known with large number of mosques and Takias especially the city of Baquba such as :   
-        The Shabandar Mosque : was founded by Al – Haj Mahmoud  Al-Shabandar in 1897 - 1899.

-        Majeed Bik Mosque : in Khanqeen City 1901 .

-        Al – Kabeer Mosque : in Mandily City the history  sources said it was built in the time of solaiman Al-Qanoony  1534 and was renovated before century ago . 

-        Baladruz Mosque : built nearly a century and half  by a  donation of the population .

-        Qazania Mosque :  a very old mosque his history back to the beginning of the Ottoman Empire and was built by a rich man from the city . and renovated in the year 1935 .

-        Muqdadiya: The current building newly constructed in 1985 but the old minaret back to the beginning of the Ottoman Empire in 1592 and built by Mohammed Agha Khan.

-        Mahmoud Bash Al – kabeer Mosque in Khanqeen city : built in 1893 .

There was a lot of Al – Riebats  and Al - Tkayas such as Sheikh Abu Makarim Al – Huja Al - Yatobi  founded in 1202 and Riebat , Al - Sheikh Zakaria bin Ali bin Idris Al - Yacoubi died  in 1222.  And it is maybe built during the Abbasiy Caliph Al - Mustnaser Bi – Allah and Riebat which is locate in the east of the stream or watercourse  of Saria to some of  Maridi Sheikh Ali bin Zakaria,  and also there is Riebat of Al - Sheikh Mahmoud on the eastern side of the watercourse Al – Saria  known  with Takia  Al – Sheikh  Mahmoud and others.
