The university, which stems from the historical depth must be distinct and works for a scientific and cultural creativity that is - Diyala University - which its name gave to it a great responsibility where had to be understand its historical extended to maintain it historical heritage with all what is creative , modern and on the other hand Has to cope with all the developments in the world and changed it into a small village.

The college of Veterinary Medicine was establishment 2002, and it aim is to preparing a scientific cadres specialist with Veterinary Medicine contributing in the field of animals protection from the diseases and it treatment and keeping on the animal resources and develop it and increase it production ability and contribute  with the fields of the general health which have relation with the diseases that removing from the animal to the human and Controlling of  the foods of animal origin .

   And also works in institutes and research centers and institutions related to food industries and animal products and provide advisory services and treatment for livestock owners and animal's owners, through the center of the scientific advisory medical services for the College of Veterinary.

   In the final stages of the study in the college the students shall be training in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and the veterinary hospital of the Ministry of Agriculture. The college issued a national and scientific magazine and it name is Iraqi magazine for veterinary science.
